Auf dem Platz Sacred Heart in Woubrechtegem steht eine Christuskönigsstatue.
Die Christus-König-Statue wurde 1926 als Kriegsdenkmal errichtet, ein Jahr nachdem Papst Pius XI. 1925 als Reaktion auf die zunehmende Säkularisierung nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg das Christkönigsfest eingeführt hatte.
Christus der König steht für den endgültigen Sieg der Liebe und Gerechtigkeit , selbst nach den Schrecken des Krieges. Für Gläubige war dieses Denkmal ein bleibendes Symbol der Hoffnung , insbesondere nach dem Ersten und Zweiten Weltkrieg, als die Menschen Trost im Glauben suchten. Das Leiden Christi wurde oft mit dem Leiden von Soldaten und Zivilisten in Verbindung gebracht. Die Statue ehrt Opfer mit religiöser Bedeutung.
