Wolfsheuvelwanderung

Seit 2010 ist das Agentur für Natur und Wald Eigentümer des Gebiets Wolfsheuvel, das umgangssprachlich oft als der Wald der Boerenbond bezeichnet wird. Es war jahrelang nicht zugänglich, wurde aber 2012 geöffnet. Inzwischen fühlen sich Schwarzspecht und Mäusebussard dort zuhause. Auch Rehe kann man dort antreffen. Das Gebiet lag vor Jahrhunderten am Südrand eines großen zusammenhängenden Moor- und Torfgebiets. Heute liegt der mehr als 66 Hektar große Wald in einem Landwirtschaftsgebiet mit Äckern und Wiesen und ist Teil des großen Natura 2000-Netzwerks von europäischen Wald- und Naturschutzgebieten für den Erhalt und die Wiederherstellung der Biodiversität.
