Wolfsheuvel hike
Since 2010, the Agency for Nature and Forest has owned the Wolfsheuvel domain, which is often referred to as the forest of the Farmers' Union. It was inaccessible for many years but was opened to the public in 2012. Nowadays, the black woodpecker and buzzard feel at home there. You can also encounter roe deer. Centuries ago, the domain was located on the southern edge of a large contiguous peat and turf area. Today, the over 66-hectare forest is situated in an agricultural area with fields and meadows, and it is part of the extensive Natura 2000 network of European forests and nature reserves aimed at the conservation and restoration of biodiversity.
