Horgen ist eine politische Gemeinde und der Hauptort des gleichnamigen Bezirks im Kanton Zürich in der Schweiz. Sie liegt am linken, westlichen Ufer des Zürichsees und ist etwa 15 km von der Kantonshauptstadt Zürich entfernt. Horgen zählt zur Agglomeration Zürich. Die Einwohner nennen sich Horgner. Zu Horgen gehören Hirzel, der Horgenberg, der Sihlwald und Sihlbrugg Station.
Horgen liegt im Südwesten des Kantons Zürich und ist mit 30,83 km² die zweitgrösste Gemeinde im Bezirk. Die Landschaft wird bestimmt durch den Zimmerberg, einer Seitenmoräne, welche der Linthgletscher bei seinem Vorstoss nach der letzten Eiszeit geformt hat und dem Albis Höhenzug. Das Gemeindegebiet erstreckt sich vom linken Seeufer über das Sihltal hinweg bis zum Albisgrat und nach Süden bis zum Sihlsprung.
