Laufenburg ), bis 1930 Kleinlaufenburg, ist eine Kleinstadt am Hochrhein im Landkreis Waldshut in Baden-Württemberg direkt an der Grenze zwischen Deutschland und der Schweiz.
Laufenburg ist eine der „vier Waldstädte“ am Rande des Hotzenwalds und deutsche Grenzstadt zur Schweiz. Auf der Schweizer Seite des Rheins liegt der 1801 durch den Frieden von Lunéville abgetrennte Stadtteil Laufenburg AG , ehemals „mehrere Stadt“ oder Grosslaufenburg genannt, während der nun badische Teil „mindere Stadt“ oder Kleinlaufenburg hieß. Seit dem Mittelalter verbinden Brücken die beiden Ortsteile. 1911 wurde die moderne Laufenbrücke an der Stelle der älteren Brücke dem Verkehr übergeben, 2004 folgte die wenig rheinaufwärts liegende Hochrheinbrücke.
