Der einspurige Albulatunnel ist das Herzstück der Albulabahn im Kanton Graubünden . Er verbindet mit seinen 5864,5 m Tunnellänge den Bahnhof Preda im Albulatal mit dem im Hochtal Engadin gelegenen Spinas.
Der Tunnel unterquert die Wasserscheide zwischen Rhein und Inn einige Kilometer westlich des Albulapasses. Mit einer Kulmination von 1820 m ü. M. ist er nach dem Furka-Scheiteltunnel der zweithöchste Alpendurchstich der Schweiz. Er führt auf einer Länge von 4346 m durch Granit, die restliche Strecke liegt grösstenteils in Schiefer, bis auf eine kurze Strecke in Zellenkalk, wovon eine 18 m lange durchnässte treibsandähnliche Zone besonders viele Schwierigkeiten während des Baus bereitete. Die grösste Gebirgsüberlagerung des Bauwerkes beträgt 950 m.
