Sie entspringt südlich des Zapporthorns auf einer Höhe von rund 2840 Metern. Sie fliesst Richtung Süden durch das Calancatal und mündet nach 31 Kilometern bei Roveredo in die Moësa. Bei Buseno wird der Fluss zum Molina-Stausee gestaut und das Wasser abgeleitet. Unterhalb des Stausees verbleibt nur noch die Restwassermenge.
