Während der Turm aus der Zeit um 1330 stammt und etwa 1430 mit Fresken versehen wurde, ist die Kirche ein Neubau nach Plänen von Paulus Nader von 1738. Zuvor stand dort eine im Mittelalter dem heiligen Mauritius geweihte Kirche mit gotischem Hochchor, deren Ursprünge auf das 13. Jahrhundert zurückgehen, und Spuren von weiteren Vorgängerbauten lassen sich bis ins 10. Jahrhundert zurückverfolgen.
Der spätbarocke Predigtsaal ist mit Stuckaturen von Daniel Haag verziert. Der Abendmahlstisch im Renaissance-Stil stammt von 1602, die Kanzel von Daniel Gintzi von 1661. Sehenswert ist auch ein von Johann August Nahl geschaffenes Epitaph für den Schultheissen Beat Ludwig May aus dem Jahr 1748.
