Die Universität Freiburg in Freiburg ist die sechstgrösste und einzige offiziell zweisprachige Universität der Schweiz.
Die Universität befindet sich im Grenzgebiet zwischen Deutsch- und Westschweiz. Die meisten Studiengänge werden auf Deutsch und Französisch angeboten, was Studierende aus der ganzen Schweiz und der Welt anzieht: Der Anteil Studierender aus anderen Kantonen ist im Vergleich zu anderen Schweizer Hochschulen überdurchschnittlich hoch und rund 20 Prozent der eingeschriebenen Studierenden stammen aus dem Ausland. Die Universität Freiburg ist zusammen mit der Universität in Cluj, der Universität Luxemburg sowie der Freien Universität Bozen eine der mehrsprachigen Universitäten Europas.
