Das Elbsandsteingebirge ist ein vorwiegend aus Sandstein aufgebautes Mittelgebirge am Oberlauf der Elbe in Sachsen und Nordböhmen . Es ist etwa 700 km² groß und erreicht Höhen bis 723 Meter über dem Meeresspiegel. Der deutsche Teil wird im Allgemeinen als Sächsische Schweiz, der tschechische als Böhmische Schweiz bezeichnet. Der Begriff „Sächsisch-Böhmische Schweiz“ ist davon abgeleitet.
