Die römisch-katholische St.-Hedwigs-Kathedrale am Bebelplatz im Berliner Ortsteil Mitte ist die Bischofskirche des Erzbistums Berlin und die Pfarrkirche der Domgemeinde St. Hedwig. Als Teil des Forum Fridericianum im Jahr 1747 von Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff begonnen, wurde sie 1887 von Max Hasak vollendet. Nach der Zerstörung im Zweiten Weltkrieg wurde die Kathedrale 1952 bis 1963 von Hans Schwippert in veränderter Form wiederaufgebaut. Aktuell ist sie wegen Sanierung und Umbau des Innenraums geschlossen.
Friedrich der Große hatte zunächst die Idee, zur Förderung der Toleranz ein großes Pantheon nach römischem Vorbild zu bauen. In verschiedenen Kapellennischen sollten die Religionsgesellschaften ihre Gottesdienste halten. Charles Étienne Jordan, Berater des Königs und Diakon an der Französischen Kirche, konnte den König von diesem Gedanken abbringen. Die Idee des Rundbaus sollte dann jedoch in einer katholischen Kirche verwirklicht werden.
