Köpenick ist ein Ortsteil im Bezirk Treptow-Köpenick im Südosten von Berlin, am Zusammenfluss von Spree und Dahme in wald- und seenreicher Umgebung gelegen.
Köpenick besitzt – wie auch das am Westrand Berlins gelegene Spandau – eine eigenständige mittelalterliche Stadttradition. Beide Orte gingen aus slawischen Burgwällen hervor, erhielten bereits im Mittelalter das Stadtrecht und verfügen bis heute über gut erhaltene Altstadtkerne und eigene Vororte.
