Kappel ist eine Ortsgemeinde inmitten der Mittelgebirgslandschaft des Hunsrücks im Rhein-Hunsrück-Kreis in Rheinland-Pfalz. Sie gehört der Verbandsgemeinde Kirchberg an.
Die Gemeinde liegt an der westlichen Grenze der Verbandsgemeinde Kirchberg, zu deren Verwaltungsbezirk sie gehört, und bildet mit ihrer Gemarkungsgrenze im Westen auch die Grenze des Rhein-Hunsrück-Kreises zum Landkreis Cochem-Zell. Die Gemarkung der Gemeinde ist etwa 1240 Hektar groß, davon sind 49,5 % Waldfläche.
