Lugau ist eine Stadt im Nordwesten des Erzgebirgskreises in Sachsen. Sie ist Sitz der Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Lugau.
Lugau liegt etwa 12 Kilometer südwestlich von Chemnitz und etwa 20 Kilometer nordöstlich von Zwickau am Nordrand des Erzgebirges. Der Großteil der Stadt befindet sich auf dem Höhenrücken zwischen dem Hegebach- und dem Würschnitztal. Der Ursprung der Stadt findet sich im Lugautal.
