Beelen bildet mit 6159 Einwohnern die kleinste Gemeinde im Kreis Warendorf und ist eine der kleinsten Gemeinden im Land Nordrhein-Westfalen.
Beelen liegt im Münsterländer Becken. Die Gemeinde liegt an Axtbach und Beilbach. Der Beilbach mündet westlich der Gemeinde in den Axtbach, der in der Nähe von Warendorf in die Ems fließt.
