Großheide ist eine Gemeinde im Landkreis Aurich in Ostfriesland . Sie grenzt im äußersten Südosten an die Kreisstadt Aurich und liegt etwa 15 km von deren Stadtzentrum entfernt sowie rund zehn km östlich der Stadt Norden.
Mit 8699 Einwohnern zählt sie zu den kleineren Einheitsgemeinden im Landkreis und auch zu den kleineren Einheitsgemeinden Ostfrieslands. Die Einwohner verteilen sich auf etwas mehr als 69 Quadratkilometer, was eine Einwohnerdichte von 123 pro Quadratkilometer ergibt. Damit liegt Großheide unter den Vergleichswerten für Ostfriesland , Niedersachsen und der Bundesrepublik Deutschland .
