Frankenau ist eine Stadt im nordhessischen Landkreis Waldeck-Frankenberg. Sie trägt seit dem 21. Februar 2019 die amtliche Zusatzbezeichnung Nationalparkstadt, in Bezug auf den naheliegenden Nationalpark Kellerwald-Edersee.
Frankenau liegt im Kellerwald südwestlich des Bergs Talgang. Es befindet sich am Südrand des Nationalparks Kellerwald-Edersee am Ursprung und Oberlauf des Eder-Zuflusses Lorfe .
