Hohes Kreuz ist eine Gemeinde in der Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Leinetal im thüringischen Landkreis Eichsfeld. Sie entstand 1991 aus einem Zusammenschluss der Gemeinden Bischhagen, Mengelrode, Siemerode und Streitholz. Das Gemeindegebiet erstreckt sich von der thüringisch-niedersächsischen Grenze im Norden bis zur Bundesautobahn 38 im Süden. Größtes Fließgewässer ist die Beber.
1055 wird Selmanroth in einer Schenkungsurkunde des Mainzer Erzbischofs erstmals erwähnt. Streitholz erscheint in einer Urkunde von 1286 als Strietholz. 1310 wird dann auch Mengelrode und 1445 Bischhagen erwähnt.
