Griesheim ist mit rund 27.000 Einwohnern die größte Stadt im südhessischen Landkreis Darmstadt-Dieburg. Sie liegt rund sechs Kilometer westlich von Darmstadt und 35 Kilometer südlich von Frankfurt am Main.
Der Dagger-Komplex, der sich im Zuge der Globalen Überwachungs- und Spionageaffäre als wichtigstes NSA-Quartier Europas entpuppte, machte Griesheim im Jahr 2013 bekannt. Der erste Flugplatz Deutschlands wurde in Griesheim 1908 gegründet. Das Wahrzeichen des in der Region auch als „Zwiebelstadt“ bekannten Griesheims ist die sogenannte „Zwewwelfraa“ auf dem Griesheimer Marktplatz.
