Hann. Münden ist eine Mittelstadt und selbständige Gemeinde im Landkreis Göttingen, Südniedersachsen, an der Grenze zu Hessen sowie unweit von Thüringen. Der Kernort ist ein staatlich anerkannter Erholungsort.
Die Ortschaft befindet sich am Zusammenfluss von Werra und Fulda zur Weser. Deshalb wird die Stadt auch „Drei-Flüsse-Stadt“ genannt. Bekannt ist die Stadt außerdem durch die Grabstätte des deutschen Handwerkschirurgen und Starstechers Johann Andreas Eisenbarth , der starb, als er in Münden Station machte. Von der Lage der Stadt im Weserdurchbruchstal soll auch Alexander von Humboldt angetan gewesen sein. Über das oft verwendete Humboldt-Zitat, Münden sei „eine der sieben schönst gelegenen Städte der Welt“, gibt es allerdings keine schriftlichen Aufzeichnungen.
