Oschatz [ˈoːʃats] ist eine sächsische Große Kreisstadt, nennt sich „die Stadt im Herzen von Sachsen“ und liegt etwa 55 km östlich von Leipzig an der Bahnstrecke Leipzig–Dresden.
Oschatz liegt in hügeliger Umgebung im Tal der Döllnitz, die als linker Nebenfluss etwa 15 km weiter östlich bei Riesa in die Elbe mündet. Oschatz liegt in einem waldreichen Gebiet mit dem Wermsdorfer Forst und dem Collmberg sowie der Dahlener Heide, die durch Rad- und Wanderwege erschlossen sind. Umliegende Gemeinden sind im Uhrzeigersinn: Liebschützberg, Naundorf, Mügeln, Wermsdorf und Dahlen.
