Jever [ˈjeːfɐ] ist die Kreisstadt des Landkreises Friesland in Niedersachsen, Deutschland und staatlich anerkannter Erholungsort. Der Name der Stadt ist durch die gleichnamige Biermarke international bekannt. Inoffiziell wird Jever auch als Marienstadt bezeichnet. Dieser Beiname weist auf Fräulein Maria, die letzte Herrin von Jever, hin. Während ihrer Herrschaft erhielt Jever 1536 die Stadtrechte.
Die Bewohner Jevers heißen Jeveraner. Die Bezeichnung leitet sich vom neulateinischen ieverani her. In früheren Zeiten war auch die Bezeichnung Jeveringer geläufig. Das zum Stadtnamen gehörige Adjektiv lautet jeversch.
