Gerresheim ist ein Stadtteil von Düsseldorf und liegt im Stadtbezirk 7 im Osten der Stadt an den Randhöhen des Niederbergischen Landes. Die ehemals eigenständige Stadt ist eine von vier städtischen Siedlungen, die sich im Mittelalter auf dem heutigen Düsseldorfer Stadtgebiet entwickelt haben. Die Ursprünge des Ortes liegen in einem Frauenstift des 9. Jahrhunderts. Der Name des Ortes wurde durch die dort – ehemals – ansässige Gerresheimer Glashütte über Deutschland hinaus bekannt. 1909 wurde Gerresheim nach Düsseldorf eingemeindet; der Ort hat den Charakter einer eigenständigen Kleinstadt bewahrt. Ende Dezember 2016 hatte der Stadtteil 29.585 Einwohner und eine Fläche von 6,74 Quadratkilometern.
