Der Landkreis Helmstedt ist ein Landkreis im Osten des Landes Niedersachsen an der Grenze zu Sachsen-Anhalt.
Mit einer Fläche von rund 670 km² ist der Landkreis Helmstedt einer der kleinsten in Niedersachsen. Der Landkreis besteht aus den drei Städten Helmstedt, Schöningen und Königslutter am Elm sowie 20 weiteren Gemeinden.
