Alfdorf liegt etwa zehn Kilometer nordwestlich von Schwäbisch Gmünd und 40 Kilometer nordöstlich von Stuttgart.
Das landschaftlich abwechslungsreiche Gemeindegebiet liegt im Naturpark Schwäbisch-Fränkischer Wald mit schönen Aussichtspunkten auf die Dreikaiserberge und zur Schwäbischen Alb, den Tälern mit den vielen Wassermühlen und den ausgedehnten Wäldern, lädt zum Wandern und zur Erholung, eine gepflegte Gastronomie zum Verweilen ein. In unmittelbarer Umgebung befindet sich der Welzheimer Wald.
