Sigmaringendorf und der Ortsteil Laucherthal liegen im Naturpark Obere Donau, rund fünf Kilometer östlich der Kreisstadt Sigmaringen. Hier mündet die Lauchert in die Donau. Mit insgesamt 340 Hektar Waldflächen sind knapp 28 Prozent der rund 1247 Hektar großen Gemarkungsfläche bewaldet. Zwei Drittel davon ist Nadel- und ein Drittel Laubholz. Pro Tag wachsen dem Wald elf Kubikmeter zu. Die in der Gemeinde ausgewiesenen FFH-Gebiete der EU befinden sich Richtung Laucherthal bis Hitzkofen und im Luibentäle. Im Bitzehau befindet sich ein gepflegtes Feuchtbiotop, ein Rückzugs- und Lebensraum für gefährdete Pflanzen und Tiere. Die Gemeinde erstreckt sich von 560 Metern bis 643 Metern über Normalnull, das Rathaus als Ortsmittelpunkt liegt 569 Meter über Normalnull.
