Die Stadt Lorch liegt im oberen Remstal im Ostalbkreis . Sie gehört zur Region Ostwürttemberg und zur Randzone der europäischen Metropolregion Stuttgart.
Lorch liegt im Tal der Rems, eines rechten Nebenflusses des Neckars zwischen Schwäbisch Gmünd im Osten und Schorndorf im Westen. Nördlich von Lorch liegt der Schwäbisch-Fränkische Wald und südlich die Schwäbische Alb. Lorch ist Mitgliedsgemeinde des Naturparks Schwäbisch-Fränkischer Wald und liegt am Limes-Wanderweg des Schwäbischen Albvereins.
