La ciudad de Lorch se encuentra en la parte alta del Remstal en el distrito de Ostalbkreis. Pertenece a la región de Ostwürttemberg y a la zona periférica de la metrópoli europea de Stuttgart.
Lorch se ubica en el valle de la Rems, un afluente derecho del Neckar, entre Schwäbisch Gmünd al este y Schorndorf al oeste. Al norte de Lorch se encuentra el Bosque Suabo-Franco y al sur la Suabia Alb. Lorch es un municipio miembro del Parque Natural Suabo-Franco y se sitúa en el Camino del Limes del Club de la Suabia Alb.
