Die Kinzig ist ein Fluss in Baden-Württemberg, der den Mittleren Schwarzwald und die Oberrheinische Tiefebene auf einer Länge von 93 km durchfließt. Sie ist mit einer Wasserführung von fast 28 m³/s nicht nur der größte der dem Rhein zufließenden Flüsse des Schwarzwaldes, sondern hat auch mit ihren Nebenflüssen das größte Talsystem des Gebirges geschaffen. Früher galt das Kinzigtal als Grenze zwischen Nord- und Südschwarzwald, seltener auch zwischen Nord- und Mittlerem Schwarzwald. Der regional auch einen Geländeeinschnitt bezeichnende Name des Flusses soll keltischen Ursprungs sein.
