Witten Hauptbahnhof liegt im Südosten der Innenstadt von Witten im Ruhrgebiet. Er wurde als Witten BME von der Bergisch-Märkischen Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft am 9. März 1849 eröffnet.
Das heutige Empfangsgebäude aus dem Jahre 1901 nach den Entwürfen des Wittener Architekten Richard Sauerbruch steht unter Denkmalschutz und ist Teil der Route der Industriekultur.
