Der Bahnhof Andernach ist die Verkehrsdrehscheibe der Stadt Andernach. Er hat vier Personenverkehrsgleise , davon drei mit einer Länge von mehr als 400 Metern, sowie Abstell- und Gütergleise. Er liegt an der linken Rheinstrecke und ist Endpunkt der Eifelquerbahn. Neben dem Personenverkehr gibt es auch Container- und Güterverkehr, der im östlich hinter dem Bahnhof liegenden Güterbahnhof abgewickelt wird. Von dort führen Anschlussgleise zum Rheinhafen Andernach und zur Firma Rasselstein.
