Schloss Elmau liegt oberhalb der Ortschaft Klais, Gemeinde Krün im Landkreis Garmisch-Partenkirchen auf 1008 Meter Höhe am Fuß des Wettersteingebirges .
Es wurde von Carl Sattler und dem Bauherrn Johannes Müller in Formen der Reformarchitektur während des Ersten Weltkriegs von 1914 bis 1916 mit ausgebautem Walmdach, Turm und Vorhallen erbaut.
2005 wurde das Schloss bei einem Brand zerstört und in der Folge teilweise abgerissen. Müllers Enkel Dietmar Müller-Elmau als Bauherr und Sattlers Enkel Christoph Sattler als Architekt bauten das Schloss von 2006 bis 2007 wieder neu als Fünf-Sterne-S-Hotel auf.
