Der Bahnhof Lüdenscheid ist Endbahnhof der eingleisigen Stichstrecke von Brügge nach Lüdenscheid, die in Brügge von der Volmetalbahn zwischen Hagen und Dieringhausen abzweigt. Er wurde 2009 zu einem Haltepunkt zurückgebaut.
Die Station liegt am Rande des Stadtzentrums der Kreisstadt Lüdenscheid. Der einzige Bahnsteig reicht bis an die Bahnhofstraße heran und ist ebenerdig zu erreichen. Die Innenstadt von Lüdenscheid liegt innerhalb weniger Gehminuten. Rund um den Bahnhof befinden sich die Lüdenscheider Stadtteile Grünewald im Norden und Westen sowie Knapp im Süden.
