Der Bahnhof Gießen ist ein Keilbahnhof in der Stadt Gießen. Er ist der Preisklasse 2 zugeordnet und bildet mit circa 375 Zügen und 28.000 Reisenden täglich den wichtigsten ÖPNV-Knoten Mittelhessens.
Der erste provisorisch eingerichtete Bahnhof in Gießen wurde für die Main-Weser-Bahn 1850 im Bereich Oswaldsgarten errichtet. Dieses Provisorium wurde 1853/54 durch einen neuen, südlicher gelegenen Bahnhof auf dem heutigen Gelände mit einem entsprechenden Empfangsgebäude ersetzt.
