Das Deutsche Buch- und Schriftmuseum in Leipzig ist das weltweit älteste Fachmuseum seiner Art und wurde 1884 als Deutsches Buchgewerbe-Museum gegründet.
Das Museum sammelt, bewahrt und erschließt wertvolle Zeugnisse der Buch-, Schrift- und Papierkultur. Die Bereitstellung einmaliger Studiensammlungen und der zugehörigen Fachliteratur für wissenschaftliche Zwecke, insbesondere für die Buch- und Papiergeschichtsforschung, ist ein wesentliches Anliegen der musealen Arbeit. Neben einer Dauerausstellung bringt das Museum wechselnde thematische Ausstellungen an die Öffentlichkeit.
