Der Altenberger Dom ist die ehemalige Klosterkirche mit dem Patrozinium St. Mariä Himmelfahrt der seit 1133 von den Zisterziensern errichteten Abtei Altenberg. Bis 1511 war das Gotteshaus auch Grablege der Grafen und Herzöge von Berg sowie der Herzöge von Jülich-Berg.
„Altenberger Dom“ ist die von jeher gebräuchliche Bezeichnung für die Klosterkirche, wobei das Wort „Dom“ in diesem Fall nicht auf die Kathedralkirche eines Bistums hinweist, sondern lediglich auf die kathedralartigen Ausmaße des Bauwerks verweist. Heute befindet sich der Altenberger Dom im Eigentum des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen und wird seit dem Jahr 1857 simultan von der römisch-katholischen und der evangelischen Gemeinde als Pfarrkirche genutzt.
