Als Scheunenviertel wurde früher ein im heutigen Berliner Ortsteil Mitte unweit des historischen Stadtkerns gelegenes Gebiet nördlich der Stadtmauer zwischen dem Hackeschen Markt und dem heutigen Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz bezeichnet.
Oftmals wird der gesamte Bereich zwischen der Friedrichstraße und der Karl-Liebknecht-Straße als Scheunenviertel bezeichnet, der im Süden durch die Stadtbahn und die Spree, sowie im Norden durch die Linienstraße bzw. Torstraße begrenzt ist. Tatsächlich umfasst das Scheunenviertel lediglich den östlich der Rosenthaler Straße gelegenen Teil der Spandauer Vorstadt. Die namensgebenden Scheunengassen lagen nur im Bereich des heutigen Rosa-Luxemburg-Platzes, eingegrenzt von der heutigen Almstadtstraße , der Hirtenstraße , der Linienstraße und der Kleinen Alexanderstraße . Keine der Scheunengassen existiert mehr in ihrer damaligen Form.
