Die Charité [ʃaʀiˈteː] ist das älteste Krankenhaus von Berlin und mit über 3000 Betten eine der größten Universitätskliniken Europas.
Der heutige Verbund von Universitätskliniken mit 279 Professoren und 7500 Studenten geht auf ein 1710 geschaffenes Pesthaus zurück, das mit Aufnahme des Lehrbetriebs der Universität zu Berlin im Jahr 1810 zu einer bedeutenden Lehr- und Forschungsstätte wurde, der über die Hälfte der deutschen Nobelpreisträger für Medizin oder Physiologie entstammen. Seit 2003 sind die medizinischen Fakultäten von Humboldt- und Freier Universität unter dem Namen Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin vereinigt. Sie verteilen sich auf vier Campus.
