Der Landkreis Friesland ist ein Landkreis im Nordwesten von Niedersachsen. Sitz der Kreisverwaltung ist die Stadt Jever.
Der Landkreis Friesland liegt auf dem traditionellen Siedlungsgebiet der Friesen in Ost-Friesland, der Halbinsel zwischen der Ems und dem Jadebusen , gehörte aber politisch nie zu Ostfriesland. Nach dem Untergang der Herrschaft Jever wurde das Jeverland, wie zuvor bereits die Friesische Wehde, Teil von Oldenburg und wird noch heute zum Oldenburger Land gezählt. Zum Kreisgebiet gehören die ostfriesische Insel Wangerooge und die östlich davon gelegene Minsener Oog.
