Die Sächsische Zeitung ist eine seit 1946 im Osten Sachsens erscheinende Tageszeitung. Die „SZ“ ist die auflagenstärkste Zeitung in ihrem Verbreitungsgebiet, dem ehemaligen Direktionsbezirk Dresden. Die verkaufte Auflage betrug im 2. Quartal 2019 196.635 Exemplare, ein Minus von 48 % seit 1998. Die Zeitung hat eine Reichweite von 630.000 Lesern .
Anbieter der Sächsischen Zeitung ist die DDV Mediengruppe. Diese gehört zu 60 Prozent Gruner + Jahr und zu 40 Prozent der Deutschen Druck- und Verlagsgesellschaft, einem Medienbeteiligungsunternehmen der SPD.
