Der Darrieus-Rotor ist eine Windturbine für Windkraftanlagen mit vertikaler Rotationsachse (VAWT, vertical axis wind turbine). Im Gegensatz zu historischen Vorbildern wie der chinesischen Windmühle (Klappflügel-Rotor) ist er ein Schnellläufer. Der Rotor wurde von dem Franzosen Georges Jean Marie Darrieus erfunden. In der ursprünglichen französischen Patentschrift von 1925 ist sein Name nicht genannt[1]. Dies ist erst in der amerikanischen von 1931 der Fall.[2] In der klassischen Form sind die Rotorblätter am oberen und unteren Ende der Welle befestigt und ragen bogenförmig nach außen. Nach dem Prinzip einer Kettenlinie geformt, verursacht die Zentrifugalkraft in ihnen nur Zugspannungen, keine Biegemomente
