Die Einöde liegt etwa sechs Kilometer südlich von Hilpoltstein an der Kleinen Roth, die 200 m weiter nördlich in die Roth mündet.
Lochmühle leitet sich von Lohmühle ab. Lohmühlen zermahlten Eichenrinde zur Lohe, die zum Gerben von Rindsleder benötigt wurde.
