Description by the author

Eine der bekanntesten und abwechslungsreichsten Radtouren am Niederrhein. Start- bzw. Endpunkte der Strecke sind Xanten und Nijmegen. Es gibt eine Süd- und und Nordroute, die Südroute mit ausgeprägterem Streckenprofil. Die Gesamtdistanz beläuft sich auf ca.250km.
Die Via Romana führt im Wesentlichen entlang der alten Limes-Straße der Römer. Ihr Zweck bestand darin, die einzelnen Militärlager miteinander zu verbinden. Nach dem Zusammenbruch des römischen Reiches wurde aus der Limes-Straße eine Handelsstraße.
