Albarreal de Tajo ist eine spanische Gemeinde in der Provinz Toledo, in der autonomen Gemeinschaft Kastilien-La Mancha.
Der Begriff "alba" könnte von den keltischen Begriffen "albiga" und "albiganus" abgeleitet sein. Früher wurde es "Albala" genannt, ein Wort, das im Arabischen "der Abfluss" bedeutet. Im 11. Jahrhundert wurde es Albalat genannt, was im Arabischen "der Weg" bedeutet, und im 16. Jahrhundert, Albarreal oder Alcalá del Río. Später, als es im 17. Jahrhundert den Titel Villa verliehen bekam, wurde der Name in Alba Real geändert, was der Titel seiner neuen Herren, der Grafen von Alba Real, ist.
