Tarragona ist die Hauptstadt der gleichnamigen Provinz im Süden der spanischen autonomen Region Katalonien.
218 v. Chr. eroberten die Römer die iberische Stadt und machten sie unter dem Namen Tarraco zur Hauptstadt der Provinz Hispania citerior, später Tarraconensis. 27 v. Chr. errichteten sie einen Tempel zu Ehren des Augustus und Jupiters.
