Das Dorf liegt im Tal des Flusses Urola. Es gehört zur Region Urola Costa. Es grenzt im Norden an die Gemeinden Zumaya, im Süden und Westen an Cestona und im Osten an Aya. Es grenzt auch an die Enklave Arbestáin, die zu Zarauz gehört. Der Name der Ortschaft bedeutet 'breites Aizarna' auf Baskisch, wobei Aizarna ein benachbartes Dorf ist, das in größerer Höhe liegt und derzeit zur Gemeinde Cestona gehört.
