Die Einwohner werden Hortois genannt.Haute-Amance liegt etwa 42 Kilometer südöstlich von Chaumont am Amance. Umgeben wird Haute-Amance von den Nachbargemeinden Celsoy im Norden und Nordwesten, Lesnoy und Marcilly-en-Bassigny im Norden, Arbigny-sous-Varennes im Osten und Nordosten, Maizières-sur-Amance im Osten, Rougeux im Süden und Südosten, Chaudenay im Süden und Südwesten, Torcenay im Südwesten, Culmont im Westen und Südwesten, Chatenay-Vaudin im Westen sowie Lecey im Nordwesten.
