Vitré [vitʀe] ist eine französische Gemeinde im Département Ille-et-Vilaine in der Region Bretagne. Im Bretonischen heißt sie Gwitreg. Vitré ist eine ehemalige Unterpräfektur und Hauptort des Kantons Vitré mit 18.487 Einwohnern .Sie liegt an den Toren der Bretagne und in Nachbarschaft zur Normandie, dem Maine und dem Anjou. Aufgrund ihres reichen Kulturerbes hat sie den Ruf einer „Stadt der Kunst und Geschichte“. Sie bildet das Zentrum des Gemeindeverbandes Vitré Communauté.
