Corbeil-Essonnes ist eine französische Gemeinde mit 51.234 Einwohnern im Département Essonne und der Region Île-de-France. Der Ort gehört zum Arrondissement Évry und zum Kanton Corbeil-Essonnes. Die Stadt liegt am Ufer der Seine und der Essonne, die hier in die Seine fließt. Die Bevölkerung der Stadt ist traditionell durch die Industriearbeiterschaft geprägt, in neuerer Zeit auch durch einen hohen Anteil von Einwanderern aus Portugal, der Türkei, Algerien und Subsahara-Afrika. Politisch dominieren linke Parteien , der Bürgermeister der Gemeinde wird aber von der konservativen UMP gestellt, lange Jahre war dies der Medienunternehmer Serge Dassault, seit 2006 ist es Jean-Pierre Bechter.
