Soultzeren mit 1178 Einwohnern existiert seit 900, wobei sein Name mit Salzwasserquellen in Verbindung gebracht wird. Seit 1543 protestantisch, litt es unter dem Dreißigjährigen Krieg. Es wurde 1914 zerstört und beherbergt heute einen Gedenkstein, eine restaurierte protestantische Kirche und eine 1924 wiederaufgebaute Schule. Es werden Wanderungen angeboten.
